Description
I,along with my family, have had lived on the Mason Creek for four years now and have not had the pleasure of exploring the creek via boat because of the the conditions of the waterway behind our home. Most of the time we experience a bed of straw, leaves, and rubbish that gets deposited from the storm drain that runs the property line. Several of my neighbors, which reside on the creek as well, have informed us of how wonderful it was to go boating in years past before the creek bed was filled with debris and rubbish. I would love to see the water level in our backyard if it was consistently higher. Over the past few years, I have seen the storm drain from the city street deposit a significant amount of yard debris and rubbish into the creek creating not only a inaccessible waterway but an eyesore. I would like it to be known that the view I have of the creek is beautiful when there is water and not just a pine straw / yard debris in the creek bed. I also have noticed the mosquito's are more of a nuisance when the water level is low to none existent than when the water level is at least a foot deep at the water line of the property.
In regards to flooding: I have not seen significant flooding due to normal precipitation flood thus far. I have been around long enough to experience nor-Easters and minor hurricanes but was fortunate to not have any water conditions that threatened the home. Obviously the water level is higher during major storms / tidal flooding.
In conclusion, I would love to see the dredging performed behind my home so my family and I could take our our John boat for recreational usage as my neighbors have done many times in the past.
Thank you for your effort.
